Ice Princess, with Michelle Trachtenberg, chases her dream
DITonline - Ice Princess chases her dream: "Directed by Tim Fywell, starring Joan Cusack and Kim Cattrell, this romantic comedy explores the journey of Casey Carlyle's (Michelle Trachtenberg) life from a science geek to a champion figure skater.

Even the title screams the ugly duckling to swan. Carlyle's journey from nobody to someone popular is an example of a person who chases her dreams no matter what.

During the movie all I could think about was how easy everyone could relate to Carlyle. In the movie Carlyle dreams of becoming a famous figure skater and this goes against her mother's dreams of her becoming a science professor at Harvard.

The reason Carlyle's mom pushes her so hard is because her mother didn't get to go to Harvard. So, she's kind trying to pursue her dream through daughter.

Carlyle's focuses her science project around the art of skating because she loves it so much. But, her mother ignores her daughter's passion, while vigorously trying to get her child enrolled in a Harvard scholarship programme."

Ice Princess, starring Michelle Trachtenberg, skates off with message of girl empowerment
Ice Princess skates off with message of girl empowerment: South Florida Sun-Sentinel: "Popcorn crunched to my left while nacho chips with elegant orange-cheese trim were chomped to my right. At the movies I sat between my two daughters with my 4-year-old nephew on the end.

I tell myself that movies like Ice Princess, glittering examples of Disney's wish-upon-a-star-and-you-can-have-anything collection, get my business because of the girls. Of course, I'm here for the girls.

Not 10 minutes have passed before, as always, the kids are completely absorbed in their snacks and I'm thoroughly caught up in the fantasy. Truth be told, I've got it bad for flimsy, hokey movies that promote family bonds and girl power. Oh, no. Did I really just say, 'girl power?'"

'Ice Princess' star Michelle Trachtenberg now wants more variety
'Ice Princess' star now wants more variety: "At the age of 19, Michelle Trachtenberg has been many things to many people. And she's hoping to be many more.

While a teen, she killed a slew of vampires and monsters as Dawn, the younger sister of television's 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'

At age 10, she was an inquisitive tween in 'Harriet the Spy.'

A generation of former youngsters know her from the cast of 'The Adventures of Pete & Pete,' and soap fans may recall her from a mid-'90s stint on 'All My Children.'

But she tries not to let fans lock her into any of those roles.

'An actor changes,' she says. 'How do people see Julia Roberts in a different role? How do people see Gwyneth Paltrow in a different role? If you really are a fan of the actor, then hopefully you'll like whatever else they do.

'I value my fans so much, they're awesome,' Trachtenberg says. But, 'I'm not going to stop myself from creatively growing just to appease a small amount of people.'"

Michelle Trachtenberg All Grown Up
Michelle Trachtenberg - Buffy aftermath and sexy Eurotrip
"Michelle Trachtenberg is no longer the innocent young girl from Buffy. She's shaking that image by doing the raunchy teen comedy Eurotrip in which she plays the friend to a group of guys who don't even consider her a girl. However, some tight jeans and a bikini start to change their minds.

This will be the start of a busy run for Trachtenberg. We'll next see her on Six Feet Under, in the indie movie Mysterious Skin and the Disney movie Ice Princess. Find out about her European adventure and Buffy aftermath. "

Michelle Trachtenberg to star in Lifetime movie
the futon critic - the web's best primetime television resource: "THE DIVE FROM CLAUSEN'S PIER (Lifetime) - Michelle Trachtenberg ('Ice Princess') is set to topline the original movie for the cable channel, about a small-town woman's journey of self-discovery after her fiance suffers a serious accident. The project, which is based on Ann Packer's best-selling novel of the same name, will be directed by Harry Winer from an adaptation by John Wierick ('The Matthew Shepard Story'). Mel Gibon's Con Artists Productions and Fox TV Studios are producing 'Dive' with Brenda Friend ('Joan of Arc'), Con Artists's Bruce Davey and Nancy Cotton and Fox TV Studios' David Madden and Lisa Demberg executive producing."

Movie Review: 'Ice Princess', staring MIchelle Trachtenberg
Movie Review: 'Ice Princess' (phillyBurbs.com): "'I bet there's an exact aerodynamic formula,' theorizes Michelle Trachtenberg's science-geek character in 'Ice Princess' as she ponders a physics experiment about the dynamics of figure skating.

The folks at Walt Disney clearly figure there's an exact formula to the princess tale: Take one goody-goody, wafer-thin teenage outsider, hand her an impossible dream come true, add water (frozen, in this case) and a nasty rival or two, then sit back and count the family-ticket admissions.

This latest girlie confection from Disney has a good, though feeble, heart and the best of intentions, but it's a pretender to the throne that musters little of the charm of the studio's 2001 hit 'The Princess Diaries.'

'Ice Princess' substitutes skating talent for royal blood, but it's essentially trying to be the same movie, lifting a sweet little nobody out of the pack and setting her on a pedestal. Disney even turned to 'Princess Diaries' author Meg Cabot to help fashion the story behind 'Ice Princess' with screenwriter Hadley Davis."
